"Chances are"

Most of the times I know exactly where I'm going and why I'm there. Purpose, it drives everything, anything else would be to costly. And me I'm not one to do things on spur of the moment, least not alone.

Then out of your daily and weekly routine stuff and not in the most likely of places you would think of it happening, it happens. "It" can be many things, but this time "it" is looking up and spotting someone and then being frozen in time. You know that moment when your life changes forever cause you have just seen the most beautiful person you have ever seen.

And it gets even better cause they notice you back. All the little tell tell signs of someone being interested in you. But, "it" happens again and it is the ugly kind of "it". The kind when your finally face to face with the person and you freeze. You can't get your words out, and when you do it comes out all incoherent and backwards. Defeated by humilation and fear you back down hoping that person will then make a move sparing you the humilation again. However, no matter how many times you see the person and swap glances and meet face to face again it never comes.

Till the one day you go back to the place and they are not there. Faced with fear you will never see this person again you go back again and again hoping for another chance meeting. Only to find they are not there.

And you can believe in higher forces, "If it was meant to be, it was meant to be" and just accept the fact that they are gone. But, just what if... what if, chances are, they were the love of your life?
